The AI Search Visibility Index – 2026
Who does AI
recommend?
The AI Search Visibility Index measures which brands ChatGPT actually surfaces — across 10 industries, scored as share of voice, and refreshed every month. Free.
What is the AI Search Visibility Index?
The AI Search Visibility Index is a free, monthly study of which brands large language models actually recommend. Each month we ask AI assistants like ChatGPT the same questions real buyers ask — “best banks,” “best CRM,” “best running shoes” — and measure which brands get named, and how often. The result is a clear share-of-voice ranking for every industry we track.
How we measure it
~50 genuine buyer queries per industry, asked three times each — roughly 1,500 AI answers analysed every month.
We scan each answer and count every brand it names, using exact matching across brand names and their aliases.
Each brand is scored on how often it appears, and we log the websites the AI cites as sources.
Everything is deterministic and reproducible: same answers in, same numbers out. Measured on ChatGPT (GPT-5.4 mini) for a US audience — no estimates, no guesswork.
Why AI search visibility matters
More and more people start their research inside ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews instead of scrolling a page of links. These assistants don’t show ten blue links — they name a handful of brands. If yours isn’t in that handful, you’re effectively invisible, no matter how well you rank on Google. Optimising for this new layer is often called Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) or Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) — and almost no one is measuring who actually wins.
How to read the index
Each industry page ranks brands by share of voice — the percentage of AI answers that mention them. A line like “106 of 150 responses” means the brand appeared in 106 of the 150 AI answers analysed that month. Every page is refreshed monthly, so you can track who’s gaining ground in AI search and who’s slipping.
